Two FSPS educators were selected by Mrs. Baird's Baking Company as the "Teachers on the Rise" for the month of May. 

The Fort Smith City Council of PTAs hosted its annual choice awards on May 10. The council recognized individuals and schools for their PTA service and programs.

The Fort Smith Public Schools Foundation hosted its annual Awards Luncheon at the Phoenix Expo Center on May 17. More than $52,000 in graduate and mini-instructional grants was awarded to teachers at 16 schools.

Fort Smith Public Schools know that good nutrition throughout the year is important for growing and learning. Beginning June 4, the District will offer the Summer Meals Program to provide area children with an opportunity for regular and healthy meals during the summer months.

Peggy Walter, Fairview Elementary School Principal, was named by the Arkansas Association of Elementary School Principals (AAESP) as the organization’s 2012 Arkansas Elementary School Principal of the Year.

School Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Service Center Auditorium, located in Building B of the Service Center Complex, 3205 Jenny Lind Road. The meetings are open to the public.
