The Arkansas Department of Education has just released the electronic publication of the first Common Core State Standards (CCSS): Education For A New Generation newsletters.

More than 400 representatives from partner businesses, organizations, and educators celebrated another successful year at the Partners in Education Awards Luncheon.

FSPS Foundation awards more than $60,000 supporting teaching and learning in 19 schools. Regional Council sponsors annual awards events.  

The National Band Association (NBA) recently awarded the Southside High School Rebel Band the 2014 National NBA Programs of Excellence Blue Ribbon Award. Previously a finalist for the Southwest Division of the nation, the band was recognized in Chicago on Thursday, December 18 at the association’s General Membership Meeting along with the other recipients. There were five divisions represented by finalists and winners alike at the meeting. 

A total of 129 FSPS junior high students will represent the District in the 2014-2015 All-Region Band. Band members from all four junior high schools earned seats after competing with hundreds of other students in the area. The students will participate in the All-Region Clinic and Concert to be held at Northside High School in January.

Board of Education

School Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Service Center Auditorium, located in Building B of the Service Center Complex, 3205 Jenny Lind Road. The meetings are open to the public.
