Business Education teacher Amber Billingsley’s Computer Technology students at Chaffin Junior High School have won an Internet Challenge National Award for FBI-Safe Online Surfing (FBI-SOS) in the Starfish school size category for December 2014. The junior high students had an impressive score of 96.14%. The class received the FBI-SOS National Trophy at an official Award Ceremony on Thursday, January 22. Chaffin alumni FBI Special Agent J.T. Coleman presented the award.
The FBI-SOS is a free educational program on the Internet designed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to help students in grades three through eight learn about the dangers of online browsing. Available to both private and public schools, the program gives students the opportunity to learn and have fun at the same time using online games as educational tools.
FBI-SOS is a monthly program and is available from September through May. At the end of each month, participating students take an online quiz to test their knowledge and the school with the highest scores has the chance to win one of three trophies in the nation based on their school size.
Congratulations to Ms. Billinglsey and her students!
