The Bud Jackson Teamwork Award honors Fort Smith Public School Partners in Education founder Bud Jackson who, in 1982, was the first to create a partnership between a business and school in the district. In 2003, the Bud Jackson Teamwork Award was established to recognize outstanding team effort of partnerships.
This year’s Bud Jackson Teamwork Award goes to Fairview Elementary School and their PTA with Fort Smith EMS, Peachtree Hospice, Golden Living, Ashland Corporation, Monkey House, Rotary International, Ted’s Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Jody’s Muffler and Auto Center, Charley’s Grilled Subs, Udouj Orthodontics, Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department, and Jim’s Razorback Pizza.
Fairview Partners in Education along with students, teachers, and parents each work together in a unique partnership that combines resources from each individual partner with other community representatives to provide services to Fairview on a regular basis. This year, Partners, PTA, and the school worked together to purchase 73 additional Google Chromebook computers. Fairview gives their Partners and PTA special credit for their students’ ability to practice and refine the skills associated with the expectations of state standards and assessments.
