Southside Students Accepted into National Honor Choir

Cameron Law, Patrick Dougherty Gaye McClure and Tyler SextonThree Southside High School choir students will head to Minneapolis March 7-11 to take their place with the National Honor Choir when this group rehearses and performs at the National Conference of the American Choral Directors Association.

Cameron Law, Patrick Dougherty and Tyler Sexton (pictured with Southside choir director Gaye McClure) were chosen from thousands of applications and recorded auditions for a spot in this 300-voice choir.
The National Conference of the American Choral Directors Association is held every odd-numbered year. Honor Choirs rehearse and perform for the audience of national and international choral directors during the conference. Eric Whitacre, a world-renowned composer and conductor, will conduct the High School Honor Choir.
With the help of McClure, the students learned and recorded an excerpt from a Mozart piece. These individual auditions were submitted with an application. Law, Dougherty and Sexton are among approximately 300 voices that were selected by a committee of ACDA choral directors.
These students will rehearse March 8-10 in Minneapolis and perform twice March 11 for several thousand choral directors at the ACDA Conference.
