A few employees with Fort Smith Public School District email addresses have fallen victim to a relatively new spoofing scam. Suspicious emails circulate with an @fortsmithschools.org email address asking the recipient to follow links to view a document.
The FSPS IT Team is working through the appropriate steps to slow and eventually eliminate this particular email scam from the District system, but in the meantime, you can help by taking preventative steps as well.
• Delete suspicious emails.
• Or, if you do click into a suspicious email directing you to view a document in another system, close it and delete it without further action. These emails grab your contact information when you begin to follow the links to open the document.
The following link documents the circulation of this particular problem and provides additional measures to ensure the security of your email and your contact lists.
