Fort Smith, AR, June 22, 2017– Fort Smith Public Schools Transportation Department won the Arkansas Association for Pupil Transportation award again this year.
AAPT has presented this award for five years, and this is the third year FSPS has been named the winner.  FSPS Transportation first won the award in 2013 and received the award again in 2016.  The criteria is based on the maintenance and operational condition of buses, accident / safety record, driver training and record keeping.
Recommendations for the award are made by the inspectors, trainers and staff from the Arkansas Department of Education's School Transportation Division.
Jeff Tomlin, FSPS director of transportation, will accept the award June 27 at the AAPT conference in Hot Springs.
Tomlin gives “full credit to shop and office staff for their commitment; bus drivers and bus aides for operating safely everyday; and the FSPS executive administration for the financial and operational support we need to stay safe.”
