Natasha Shoate, a third grade teacher at Cavanaugh Elementary School, was selected by Mrs. Baird's Baking Company as the October elementary school recipient of the "Teachers on the Rise" recognition program. Shoate was nominated for the honor by one of her students, Elizabeth Kelly. Elizabeth noted that Ms. Shoate has made her a better student this year and noted her kindness and concern for students.
Shane Sumrow, director of the Mrs. Baird's "Teacher on the Rise" program, presented Shoate with a $200 Wal-Mart gift card, a $150 gift certificate to a local day spa, and a basket of Mrs. Baird's bread products. For nominating the winning teacher, Elizabeth Kelly was given a $50 Wal-Mart gift card and her classmates received a Mrs. Baird's knapsack and donuts.
The Mrs. Baird's "Teachers on the Rise" recognition program honors teachers for their hard work and commitment to educating today's students. Each month, Mrs. Baird's recognizes three area teachers for outstanding service based upon nominations from their students.
