Students from Northside and Southside High Schools turned the legendary "Battle of Rogers Avenue" into an opportunity to give back to the community. The student councils and FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) chapters from both schools organized a community canned food drive to collect donations at the November 4 game. Collection boxes were set up at the gates around Mayo-Thompson Stadium and students sorted food brought in by game-goers. Students collected more than 1,000 canned goods. All donations benefitted the Community Services Clearinghouse and the Salvation Army.
