District Schools Host Veterans Day Activities
In honor of Veterans Day, several of the Fort Smith Public Schools hosted special programs and activities recognizing area veterans and service members. Many schools conducted Veterans Day programs during their morning Rise and Shine or at special afternoon and evening ceremonies. Students participated by singing patriotic songs and by welcoming family members who have served in the military. Several schools also conducted formal flag presentations with both students and honored guests from the community. Students from Woods Elementary School treated lunch customers at Chick-fil-a, the school's Partner in Education, to patriotic choruses in the store parking lot. Darby Junior High School hosted special guest Major Joe Claburn who shared his inspirational story of overcoming obstacles during his time of service.

School Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Service Center Auditorium, located in Building B of the Service Center Complex, 3205 Jenny Lind Road. The meetings are open to the public.
