Two Woods Elementary School students were recently selected to have their artwork featured in the 2013 Economics Arkansas Calendar. Ashlyn Roffine, a fourth grader, and Rachel Simpson, a fifth grader, were named winners in the state-wide contest. Arkansas students in Kindergarten through eighth grade compete to have their drawings, featuring economic concepts they've learned in the classroom, printed in the calendar. Winners are chosen based on accurately depicting the selected concept and for artistic creativity. The calendars are sent to donors and educators statewide.
Roffine and Simpson were each awarded a $50 gift card for their entries. Their teachers, Jennifer Howald and Shawna Morganflash, were also received a $50 gift card. They will also be given a copy of the calendar, which will be available for distribution in the fall.
