Lady Bears Capture State Championship Title

The Northside Lady Bears Basketball Team captured the 2013 7A State Championship title on March 8 at Barton Coliseum in Little Rock. The team defeated the Southside Lady Rebs in overtime 51-46 after an exciting game that had Southside leading up until the last quarter.  

The win is the Lady Bears' sixth state championship under Head Coach Rickey Smith. The team previously won in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2007. 

Team members include: Asia Adams, Tyler Adams, Jay Nee Alston, Alexsia Banks, Shawn Banks, Hailey Bunch, Bria Caldwell, Kaylena Ceaser, Jasmine Cooksey, Kilah Cummings, Courtney Flemming, Olivia Hanson, Brianna Jackson, Nicole Jackson, Jala Jones, Rakiya Jones, Nicole Knight, Tiarra McDonald, Jill Myers, Vanessa Myers, Markeyah Robinson, Kim Rollinson, Danasia Shade, Kira Shepard, Megan Shipp, Kiki Thomas, and Bre'ahna Walton.

The team is coached by Smith and assistants Scott Thompson, Brent Goode, Don Fiser and Jason Williamson. 

On March 15, the Lady Bears will present their championship trophy to the Northside High School student body. The ceremony will be held in the school field house at 10:45 am. 

School Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Service Center Auditorium, located in Building B of the Service Center Complex, 3205 Jenny Lind Road. The meetings are open to the public.
