FSPS Robotics Teams Place at Competition

On October 19, Chaffin, Darby, Kimmons, Northside and Southside schools represented FSPS well in the 2013 River Valley BEST Robotics Competition on the UAFS campus. Sixteen teams competed for the top award, the BEST Award. Chaffin Junior High placed second in the River Valley competition, qualifying the team to participate in the Frontier Trails BEST Regional Championship in December.

BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) Robotics encompasses not only the art of building a mechanical creation, but also includes creating a budget and a marketing plan. Each student involved in robotics is able to contribute individually in the producing of a company for the robot they make. Students from five of the six secondary schools in the District participate in robotics and compete in the BEST competition each year.

Game day results included other awards in addition to the BEST award. The Kimmons/Darby team placed third in the Robot Competition with Chaffin following up in fourth place in the same category.
