Northside Student Honored with President's Volunteer Service Award

Alexandra Cruz, a senior at Northside High School, has received the President's Volunteer Service Award for her outstanding volunteerism within the Fort Smith community.

The President's Volunteer Service award recognizes American citizens of all ages who have given large amounts of their time to helping their community/nation. Cruz has exhibited her willingness to contribute to the Fort Smith community throughout her high school education. She helps the Fort Smith Public Schools daily by leading the Northside Student Council as President and even by aiding the FSPS Administration at the Service Center.

The award was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama. The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), recognizes middle level and high school students across America who excel in volunteer service.

Congratulations to Alexandra Cruz!

School Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Service Center Auditorium, located in Building B of the Service Center Complex, 3205 Jenny Lind Road. The meetings are open to the public.
