Bands from Chaffin, Darby, Kimmons, Ramsey, Northside and Southside proudly represented FSPS in the ASBOA (Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association) Region VIII Marching Contest on October 25.
It was another record-breaking year for the FSPS United Way Campaign. This year, the District's faculty and staff pledged $79,326 --an increase of 5% beyond the 2010 total.
Natasha Shoate, a third grade teacher at Cavanaugh Elementary School, was selected by Mrs. Baird's Baking Company as the October elementary school recipient of the "Teachers on the Rise" recognition program.
Northside High School's broadcasting and small business programs were recently featured on TV 5 News.
Two Fort Smith Public School Teachers have been named winners of the Parsons-Burnett Memorial Grant from the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. Virginia Lopez, Ballman Elementary School, and Josh Adams, Southside High School, were two of the three educators awarded the $1,500 continuing education grant by ARTA.

School Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Service Center Auditorium, located in Building B of the Service Center Complex, 3205 Jenny Lind Road. The meetings are open to the public.
