Every year, Ballman Elementary School recognizes students who have had not only perfect attendance, but who have zero tardies and zero early check-outs, as well. These students have literally been present for every minute of every school day for the entire school year.
Kyle Carson, a sixth grader, earned this award for the last six years, and will also receive one for the 2010-2011 year. Since entering Kindergarten, he has never missed a minute of school. He is the grandson of Jerry Carson.
Two families at Ballman, each with two children enrolled at the school, have also earned this honor. Bennett Hasley, fifth grade, and Addison Hasley, third grade, did not miss a minute of the 2010-2011 school year. They are the children of Douglas and Leigh Ann Hasley.
Bilha Valdez, fourth grade and Maria Valdez, Kindergarten, will also be recognized for “Absolutely Perfect” Attendance. They are the children of Martin and Maria Valdez.
“It really is an incredible accomplishment for students to never miss a minute of school,” said Hazel Russell, Ballman Counselor. “It is an achievement for both the students and their parents and it demonstrates the commitment each has to the student’s success.”
Dirie Balderas, third grade; Kennedy Barnett, fifth grade; Madison Hill, first grade; and Sam Long, fourth grade, also were present for every minute of the 2010-2011 school year. All of the recipients will be presented with a medal at the end of the year awards ceremony on June 3.
