Fast Facts About Barling Elementary School

 

v  The current Barling building was built in1974.  Before that time, the elementary school was in 2 metal buildings and what is now City Hall.

v  Barling Elementary was the first of four open-space classroom schools in this school system. With this distinction, the concept of community carries into the classroom.

v  Construction for 6 classrooms, office area, cafeteria, auxiliary classes, and media offices

was completed in August, 2010.

v  The school staff includes 15 regular class teachers, 2 resource room teachers, counselor, media, and reading recovery which are full-time positions.  There are several part-time positions which include literacy, math and science facilitators, art, music, physical education, gate, ELL tutor, American Indian tutor, speech and occupational therapy.

v  Our enrollment for 2011-2012 was 373.
