Barling Elementary School - Greetings from the Principal

Come join us and experience the excitement of learning.  Education can change and transform lives. Our curriculum emphasis is on reading, writing and math.  Science and Social Studies are integrated into the curriculum in grades K-2 and become separate subject areas for grades 3-6.  While students are expected to achieve across the entire curriculum, teachers at Barling Elementary provide learning opportunities for everyone with the use of high yield instructional strategies, higher order thinking skills and project-based learning. In addition, we are one of three Fort Smith Schools piloting a reading program, Benchmark Literacy. We are excited about the learning opportunities for both children and staff.   Another major undertaking is continuing to raise money for new playground equipment.  The school, Partners-in-Education, community, and Lion’s Club are all participating in this event.  Please join us in making a new playground become a reality for the 2012-2013 school year.

Diane Isaacs, Principal
