With GED graduation only two weeks away, students are picking up caps and gowns! GED Graduation is May 7th, 7pm at UAFS Stubblefield Center. If you received your GED diploma since last May, you are eligible to walk in our special ceremony!  Stop by the office for details. The children of Bright Start Early Learning Center at the Adult Education Center have been learning about butterflies. They have learned the life cycle of a butterfly by observing from caterpillar to butterfly.  The children finally released their butterflies today!

Fort Smith Adult Education students and teachers enjoyed watching a University of Arkansas- Fort Smith baseball game on Saturday against the Texas A&M Aggies.  The weather was perfect!  The Fort Smith Adult Education Center is grateful to UAFS for partnering with our students!

The Junior League of Fort Smith hosted a citizenship bee and conducted mock interviews on Monday, April 16. Our citizenship students rose to the challenge by successfully demonstrating their knowledge pertaining to the civics test and interview questions that are a part of the citizenship process. We are very grateful for the Junior League’s willingness to be a part of our students’ education and success!

Shirley Carter completed her Microsoft PowerPoint Class by giving a great presentation on unemployment and older workers. Shirley is now a student at the University of Arkansas- Fort Smith and also continues to learn more computer skills at the Fort Smith Adult Education Center to help her in her classes at the University. Kudos to Shirley on her dedication to education and her desire to always continue learning!
