December Student of the Month

Student of the Month Mirna Galicia, with teacher Jason Garvey

Congratulations to Mirna Galicia, our December Student of the Month. Mirna made the decision to hit the ground running when she began attending ESL classes in April. Mirna’s success with her acquisition of English has been fueled by her consistent attendance, desire to learn, and willingness to participate in class. Although she believes that learning English is a challenging process, Mirna knows that she can persevere by being an active learner. She is a prepared student who asks insightful questions in class and never fails to complete her assignments. Her positive attitude in and out of the classroom has played a major role in her progress and will definitely help realize her goals of having long conversations with friends who do not speak Spanish and helping her son with his homework. It has also allowed her to make new friends with whom she enjoys practicing her English.

During her free time, Mirna likes spending time with her family and going shopping on the weekends. She especially enjoys taking walks in the park with her children and grandson.

Despite the fact that learning English is a consuming activity, Mirna believes that all of the work that she and her classmates put into it is completely worth it. Mirna hopes to use her English skills to get a desirable job and eventually obtain her U.S. citizenship. We are certain that her dedication and diligence will ensure that her personal expectations will be met. We are lucky to serve Mirna and are very proud of her accomplishments and progress.
