Kimmons Junior High School hosted a “Benchmark Pep Rally” for each grade in preparation for the upcoming assessment. According to Principal David Watkins, the rally was held to help “encourage students to do their best and to help with overall awareness about the test.” Guest speakers Alex Sanchez and Sal Ortiz from Arvest Bank spoke to the students about the importance of doing well in school and about the impact education had on their lives. At the rally, students who earned either advanced or proficient on last year’s exam were presented with a red “Benchmark Band.” The students also participated in a letter scramble game with the winner receiving $50. All students were entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $50 savings bond donated by Arvest.
