Who can Join?
Qualifications of Members and Officers
- Members should maintain a 2.0 GPA. Officers should maintain a 2.5 GPA.
- Any member who receives 2 or more office referrals or an in-school suspension is subject to membership termination.
- Any expulsion by administration is automatic membership termination.
- Participation in activities and meetings is mandatory. If a member or officer does not attend three activities/meetings per year, membership will be terminated.
- All members should strive to achieve the goals and purposes of FBLA.
- Officers should go "above and beyond", take initiative, be true leaders, cooperative, honest and accept the responsibilities required of the positions they hold.
- All members will behave and dress in a manner that shows respect for themselves and will abide by the rules in the school handbook.
- All members are required to pay $7.00 to cover national, state and local dues for FBLA.
- All members must currently be in a Business class, will take one of these classes 2nd semester or have previously taken one of these classes.
- Sponsor will have the discretion to terminate membership in FBLA if qualifications are not being met.
What is FBLA?
The specific FBLA goals are to:
- Develop competent, aggressive business leadership
- Strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work
- Create more interest in and understanding of American business enterprise
- Encourage members in the development of individual projects which contribute to the improvement of home, business and community
- Develop character, prepare for useful citizenship and foster patriotism
- Encourage and practice efficient money management
- Encourage scholarship and promote school loyalty
- Assist students in the establishment of occupational goals
- Facilitate the transition from school to work
The strict code of ethics that each member of an FBLA chapter must achieve is:
- I will be honest and sincere.
- I will approach each task with confidence in my ability to perform my work at a high standard.
- I will willingly accept responsibilities and duties.
- I will seek to profit by my mistakes and take suggestions and criticisms directed toward the improvement of myself and my work.
- I will abide by the rules and regulations of my school.
- I will exercise initiative and responsibility and will cooperate with my employer and fellow worker.
- I will dress and act in a manner that will bring respect to me and to my school.
- I will seek to improve my community by contributing my efforts and my resources to worthwhile projects.
