Enrollment in the Ramsey Choir program has now reached the 295 mark. The choirs are under the direction of Keith Reeves. Choir is open to all students in 7th grade, and by audition to 8th and 9th graders. Ramsey Choirs have consistently received Superior rating at choral performance assessments.
Each year the choir performs for several events. These events include singing the national anthem at a home football or basketball game, a Christmas concert, region choral performance assessments, Spring Concert, and recruiting assemblies for incoming 7th graders.
Ramsey students perform well both as a group and individually. Around 50 Ramsey choir students have been selected each year to participate in the West Central Region Choir. Over 700 students typically audition for a few positions, so it is quite an accomplishment to earn a place in this group.
Each October, all Fort Smith Public School secondary school choirs participate in the City Choral Festival. This event is held at UAFS. Students rehearse with a guest clinician and then perform in an evening concert.
Concerts at Christmas, in February, and in May are free and open to the public. The Region Choral Performance Assessment is held at the Greenwood Performing Arts Center.
Ramsey Choir students are involved in virtually every activity on our campus. Many choir students are involved in athletics, drill team, NJHS, band, orchestra, and many other groups and activities.
