Fast Facts about Beard
Beard Elementary opened its doors for the first time November 11, 1968. The school was named after Mr. Charles E. Beard. He was an educator for 56 years. In the Fort Smith School district he was the principal at Trusty, Spradling, Albert Pike, and Parker Elementary Schools.
We are a K-6 school with a current enrollment of 291. Our student population is approximately 73% Caucasian, 11% African American, 8% Hispanic, 4% Asian, and 4% Native American.
Beard currently has eleven K-6 classroom teachers, a Kindergarten Early Intervention class, a first and second grade Opportunity Center, and a fifth/sixth Special Education self contained classroom. We also provide qualified staff in the areas of ELA, GATE, Title VII, literacy, Reading Recovery, special education resource, art, music, library media, physical education, speech, and counseling.
Beard is a Title I school.
Beard offers a breakfast and lunch summer program.
Our school colors are royal blue and white, and we are the Beard Bears.
This School is accredited by the North Central Association and the Arkansas Department of Education.
