MILLION WORDS CAMPAIGN
This school year Beard Elementary will participate in the Million Word Campaign and the Book of the Month.
We are encouraging all students to read One Million Words this school year. Students will be recognized throughout the year for reaching different levels.
Level One: 200,000 words- During Rise and Shine the students will receive a book mark and a pencil
Level Two: 400,000 words- During Rise and Shine the students will receive a Wild about Reading bracelet.
Level Three: 600,000 words- During lunch the students will eat lunch with Mrs. Siebenmorgen.
Level Four: 800,000 words- Students will participate in a bowling party on May 26.
Level Five: 1,000,000 words- Students will participate in a beach party at Beard on May 28.
Everyone is encouraged to participate! All staff members, parents, and members of the community.
Celebrate with your students and us to help encourage them!!
Criteria for reaching a MILLION WORDS
Read at least 4 similar books (same author, genre, or topic)
Read at least 4 different authors
Read a variety of literary forms (poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or news article.)
Readers must meet all criteria in order to get to a million words.
