Teachers add humor and fun activities that go along with the lesson that we learn, which makes it easier to understand. They also encourage you to be at your fullest potential.

Greetings from the Principal:
It is my pleasure to greet you on behalf of the students and staff of Cavanaugh Elementary School. Cavanaugh fields a talented faculty of highly qualified teachers and staff that is committed to supporting students’ emotional and academic needs.

Our teachers and specialized instructors have made extraordinary efforts to implement the Arkansas Reading First comprehensive literacy model in K-3 and the UALR mid-level model in grades 4-6. Because of our teachers’ wealth of literacy training and implementation experiences, we possess a strong K-6 literacy curriculum that is vital in preparing students to become proficient life-long learners. Our teachers spend a considerable amount of time planning meaningful lesson activities and focusing on specific learning interventions to address the individual learning needs of each student in their classrooms.

Cavanaugh prides itself on our rich history as a student-oriented school. From the day Cavanaugh School opened in 1895, it has been the focal point of the Cavanaugh community. For more than 100 years, Cavanaugh has fostered a warm and caring environment where every student is valued. Because of our small enrollment, students receive abundant attention and are recognized in a variety of ways to encourage outstanding citizenship, scholarship, and school attendance. We strive to work closely with parents to ensure that their children are progressing academically and developing into successful and responsible students.

Hank Needham, Principal
