Darby FLBA has gotten off to a running start for the 2007-08 school year! We started off with a membership drive and were fortunate enough to gain 22 new members! We then joined the surrounding high schools, junior highs and middle schools for the District I Fall Leadership Conference. All members, advisors and guests presents heard from various speakers, including James Malinchak, who is a contributing author for the #1 New York Times Best-Selling book series, Chicken Soup for the Soul. He was very motivational and spoke to us about leadership and making good choice for the future. During the conference, our very own Sarah M. was elected as the District I Middle Level Vice-President! Congratulations Sarah for a great speech and wonderful leadership skills to obtain this office!
Upcoming events for the remaining semester are the fall fundraiser and some community service days. If you want to get a head start on your Christmas shopping and support your local FBLA, please see a member for a great selection of gifts!
Next semester, we will sponsor our annual Career Day, participate in Job Shadow Day, raise money for the March of Dimes and prepare for the end of the year Spring Leadership Conference. |
