Howard Elementary School teaches you self-discipline, responsibility, and citizenship
Greetings from the Principal: Howard Elementary consists of a very diverse population with an average enrollment of 390 students from preschool through sixth grade. The diversity of our school population exposes all students to the many different world cultures living within our community. Our emphasis is on academics as well as character development. Students are encouraged to think about their behavior and make good choices for their lives by being responsible, self-disciplined and ethical members of society. Our staff includes classroom teachers (preschool-6th grade), preschool paraprofessionals, a special education teacher and special education paraprofessional, a literacy coach and Reading Recovery specialist, a counselor, art and music teachers, a P.E. coach and assistant, a gifted and talented instructor, a certified media specialist, ELA paraprofessionals, a part-time nurse, custodians and cafeteria staff, several specialized therapists and examiners, a full-time secretary and part-time secretary/media clerk. In addition to our staff, we are fortunate to have three strongly committed Partners-in-Education who share our vision of a community of learners, Gerber Products, Rheem Manufacturing and Weldon, Williams & Lick. Our amazing partnership has been honored the past three years by receiving the Fort Smith Public Schools’ Partners-in-Education Bud Jackson Team Award. Through high expectations, Howard students are encouraged to reach and strive for goals, to go beyond their limits, to use their mind, to believe, achieve, challenge and seek success so that they may become well-informed leaders in our community and the world. We look forward to seeing you at Howard Elementary School. This School is accredited by the North Central Association and the Arkansas Department of Education. |
