Library/Media Center



It is the policy of the Kimmons Junior High School Media Center to provide access of media center materials to all users. We want to ensure that our students and staff have the ability to find and use information. The Kimmons Media Center actively supports the Literacy Lab Model of the English Department as well as the curriculum and objectives of all other subject areas.
Procedures
- All users of the media center are to be respectful of others and of the equipment.
- Ask if you need assistance with locating materials.
- Please do not reshelve books. Leave them on tables or at the circulation desk.
Circulation
- All library/media materials must be checked out from the circulation desk by the media staff.
- Books may be checked out for two weeks. Students may check out two books. Reference books may only be checked out for overnight use.
- Overdue charges will be assessed as follows:
- .10 cents daily for books after a five day grace period
- .50 cents daily for reference books;
- Overdue charges are only assessed for actual school days.
- If you have an overdue book or a fine, you cannot check out any library materials.
- All lost or damaged items must be paid for which will include the replacement cost, service charge and fines.
- You must present you Student ID Card to check out materials.
General Rules
- Students may come to the library before or after school or during lunch. Please sign in and out.
- Lunch passes must be obtained from the library staff.
- Students are required to have a media center pass from the teacher to come to the media center and are required to sign-in and sign out.
- Students may request a copy of material at 10 cents per copy, printing of material from the computer at 10 cents per page, and lamination at 25 cents per item.
- Students will be required to adhere to the school policy of no gum, candy or food in the media center.
- Teachers are to make prior arrangements for bringing a class to the media center and are to stay in the media center with the class.
- Computer usage is on a first come, first served basis and those students working on school projects shall have first priority.
- Adherence to the computer policy is required or privileges may be lost.
