Welcome to the Northside High School Library!
We encourage active study and exploration of the resources available
in the Library Media Center. Our mission is to ensure that all students
and staff members are effective users of information, resources, and
ideas. We actively support the curricular goals of Northside High
School and will attempt to provide current, relevant and appropriate
materials and instruction for all students and staff. Our Library
Media Center provides access to books, magazines, an online card
catalog, reference center, networked computer resources, extensive
online databases, and copying, laminating and printing services for all
NHS patrons.
General Rules
- Please respect the needs of all library patrons. We ask that
you not disturb any individual or class studying or working in the
library.
- Ask if you need assistance with locating materials or general
services in the library. Remember, the staff is here to help
you!
- Please do not reshelve books. Leave them in book trucks, on
tables, or at the circulation desk.
- You are welcome before and after school and during lunch.
Please sign in and out.
- Study hall and lunch passes must be obtained from the library
staff.
Services and Procedures
- Regular book check out period is two weeks.
- Reference book check out is by permission after last period and
returned before 8:00 am the following day.
- If you have an overdue book or fine you cannot check out any
library materials.
- You must present your Student ID Card to check out materials.
- You may check out up to three books at one time. Please allow
plenty of time to check out materials. If you wait to the last
minute you may be late to your next class.
- All lost or damaged items must be paid for which will include
the replacement cost, service charge and fines.
- All items taken from the library media center must be checked
out.
Computer Use
- The computers and internet access are available to permit
students to perform research and to use and learn computer
technology.
- The use of the school computers is for educational and/or
instructional purposes only.
- Students are advised there is no expectation of privacy in any
aspect of their computer use and that monitoring is continuous.
- There will be no sharing of information on the web, downloading
or purchasing through the media center computers.
- Do not change computer settings or save information to the hard
drives. Students may purchase and use computer floppy disks and CDs
for saving documents and research information. Floppy disks may be
purchased for 50¢ and CDs for $1.00.
