Pep Club

Purpose

To promote school spirit by cheering at home varsity football and basketball games.

Membership
Requirements

To remain a member in good standing, a Pep Club member must attend all scheduled meetings and ballgames. In order to try out for cheerleader and/or drill team at Southside High School, a candidate must be a member in good standing of the SHS Pep Club or Band.

Quill and Scroll (Journalism)

Purpose

Quill and Scroll is an International Honor Society that recognizes superior work in high school journalism.

Membership
Requirements

Must be in the upper one-third of their class; must do superior work in journalism; and must be recommended by the sponsor.

Robotics Club

Purpose

To supply a means whereby high school students can learn about and participate in the design and building of robots.

Senior Council

Purpose

To organize and direct the Senior Class activities. The Senior Council sponsors the Southern Bell Pageant and plans the Senior Prom, Baccalaureate, and Graduation activities.

Purpose

Purpose

Spanish National Honor Society

Purpose

To recognize outstanding academic achievement in Spanish.

Membership
Requirements

Students must have completed three semesters of Spanish and are currently enrolled in Spanish II Honors or Spanish III AP and have a 3.5 cumulative GPA in Spanish courses and are members of the National Honor Society. $4.00 national dues are required.

Students and Adults Intervening for Life
(S.A.I.L.)

Purpose

To promote a drug free life style for the Students at Southside. SAIL members sponsor Red Ribbon Week; Kid's Day/Kid's Leaders; Elementary School programs and skits; and Spring Fling (a drug free all- school recreational time).

Interest in helping others stay or get drug free; sign a 'Drug Free Contract'.

Thespians

Purpose

To promote educational theater in this state and the teaching, educating, and instructing of teachers and students in the performing arts-related subjects. The major event of the year is attending the Arkansas Thespian Conference.

Requirements

Students who love theater and gain the appropriate number of points with both acting and technical work.

Club meetings are often after the Drama Club meeting (first Wednesday of each month at 3:30.) Additional meetings will be announced.
