APRIL


TUESDAY, APRIL 6
Auditions for Commencement speakers will be at 3:30 p.m. in the library classroom (Room 201). The theme for this year's Commencement is "Determination".

Any member of the senior class may audition for Commencement speaker. Those individuals wishing to audition should sign up in Room 262 by the end of the day, April 1. Three speakers will be selected to speak at Commencement.

THURSDAY, APRIL 8
Caps and gowns, announcements, and other graduation items will be delivered.

TUESDAY, APRIL 13
Class pictures will be taken in the Jim Rowland Stadium at 9:05 a.m.  Be sure your cap and gown are pressed and unwrinkled. Girls should pin collars to gowns. Payment for the pictures will be collected the day they are taken. The price is $15.00 for a 10" X 15" picture. In case of rain on this day, pictures will be taken on Friday, April 16 .

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14
Auditions for Baccalaureate and Commencement soloist or small ensemble at 2:15 p.m. in Room M-1. Sign up with Ms. McClure, Mr. Kesner, or Mr. Carrier by NOON, MONDAY, APRIL 12.

Tickets go on sale for Senior Prom Activities. Tickets may be purchased from Mrs. Hall in the Business Office.

 

MAY

WEDNESDAY, MAY 5
Sign-up begins for Baccalaureate during both lunches. If you plan to participate, you must sign up. Baccalaureate is not required of any senior. It is your decision if you wish to take part.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 12
Practice marching for Baccalaureate at Harvest Time Tabernacle at 2:30 p.m.. (NO SHORTS, FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE CHURCH.)

SUNDAY, MAY 16
Baccalaureate at Harvest Time Tabernacle at 2:30 p.m.. Seniors are to be present at 2:00 p.m. in line and ready for roll check. (See following for information on dress.)

FRIDAY, MAY 21
FINAL DAY OF CLASSES FOR SENIORS. (All text books must be turned in and all obligations must be cleared on or before the end of the school day.)

This is the deadline for purchasing tickets for the Senior Prom Activities. Tickets may be purchased in the Business Office.

Senior Prom at the Holiday Inn City Center from 8:00 p.m. to Midnight. The theme for the 2010 Prom is "Dancing in the Moonlight ".

FRIDAY, MAY 28
9:00 a.m. Practice for Commencement/Graduation at Jim Rowland Stadium. All seniors who plan to participate in Graduation must attend. In case of rain in the morning, practice will be at 2:00 p.m. Flyers with instructions for ordering graduation pictures will be available at that time. You may view the pictures 2 days following graduation by going to HeritagePortraits.net or going to the studio at 402 Webster Street in Van Buren. Payment for pictures will be made at the time the pictures are ordered.

6:30 p.m. Seniors are to be present at Southside High School in line ready for roll check.

7:30 p.m. Commencement/Graduation. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held at the Stubblefield Center on the University of Arkansas Fort Smith Campus. (See following for information on dress.)

******** INFORMATION FOR SENIORS ********


REGARDING THE SENIOR PROM
ALL SENIORS WILL NEED TO PURCHASE A PROM TICKET for $20.00 each. A non-senior ticket is $30.00. Every individual attending the Prom will need to secure a ticket. Prom tickets go on sale Wednesday, April 14. The deadline for purchasing tickets is Friday, May 21. Prom tickets may be secured in the Business Office. In regard to dress for the Prom, semi-formal dress to formal dress is acceptable. PLEASE NOTE: Senior Prom, like all dances, is a "closed dance" -- once you leave you will not be allowed back in the dance.  All dancing must be face to face and no back to front dancing will be allowed.


REGARDING BACCALAUREATE AND COMMENCEMENT
Girls must wear dresses under the Commencement gowns and appropriate dress shoes. Girls are not to wear slacks, nor should they wear corsages. Boys must wear trousers (not blue jeans), shirt, (tie recommended) and appropriate dress shoes (not tennis shoes.) Clothing will be checked before Baccalaureate and the Commencement exercises begin. Tassels on the graduation caps hang over the right temple and are to be shifted to the left temple when the diploma is awarded. Girls do not remove caps at anytime during the services. Boys remove their caps during the prayer, the playing of the National Anthem, the Alma Mater, and during the Baccalaureate sermon.
