PARTNERS IN EDUCATION CD/ECONOMICS/SERVICE PROJECT
         Power To Believe Website
Tilles Elementary donated $6,000 to the Community Clearing House Backpack Program from the proceeds of their Power To Believe CD project on March 12, 2006.

Our partners have once again joined up with supporting community businesses and individuals to produce the second CD from our students. Tilles students have completed their second CD "Just Believe: Power To Believe II" and had a red-carpet media release on Monday, November 19th. Parents were invited to a special early release on Friday, November 17th during Rise and Shine. There are 26 songs on the new CD, each student is represented on the CD by class recordings.

Students have learned about various jobs/careers from the partners and business contributors from our CD project. During a two-week career highlight, different individuals came during our Rise and Shine program to share various jobs from their places of work. Students were able to hear about a variety of careers and job opportunities. They learned about the requirements for these jobs, were able to ask questions, and some students will be selected to job shadow in various positions later this year.

Economics lessons/modules have been created for each grade level. Students have had many experiences in the class to see the big picture of how the CD was made and how interrelated the economy is in the project.

On Friday, January 18th, Tilles presented a check for $4,000 to Clearinghouse for the Backpack program with proceeds from the CD project.

MILLION WORDS CAMPAIGN
         MILLION WORDS COMPACT (Spanish)
383 students were able to attend the Level 4 Skating Reward Party on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Crystal Palace.  These students all read at least 800,000 words in order to qualify for this opportunity.

On May 29, 2008, Tilles Tiger Millionaires enjoyed the Beach Party for reaching 1,000,000 words this school year.  Three Hundred Fifty One students reached millionaire status.  Students who continued to read beyond the million words were recognized at the beach party with extra leis and hats for going above and beyond the million word goal.  We had three Tilles Tigers who read over four million words this year.
We had several community volunteers come read to each classroom in the Reading Beach for the event.

Daren Bobb and Kendra Kent from KFSM TV Channel 5 came to Tilles on Tuesday, September 4th, 2007 to kick off our Million Words Campaign. Ms. Kent challenged all Tilles students and staff to reach their goals of reading a million words this year. Mr. Bobb counted down for students and staff to release Tilles blue and orange balloons into the air as a celebration of our accepting the challenge. Mrs. Siebenmorgen also challenged Mr. Bobb and Ms. Kent to read a million words this year and invited them to come to our Millionaires Beach Party at the end of the school year to celebrate.

As of April 18th, 94 Tilles Tigers have reached Millionaire status by reading 1,000,000 words this school year. These students are now eligible to attend the end of the year Millionaire's Beach Party. One 5th grade student has read over Four Million words and is working on getting to Five Million. Way to go Jessica Wilson!!!

We host monthly luncheons to discuss the current book of the month. Students at a variety of grade levels meet with members of our school community (parents, business leaders, educators, etc.) to discuss the book and talk about how it relates to them.
