Southside Sophomores Recognized for ACT Plan Achievement

More than 100 Southside High School sophomores were recognized by the Arkansas ACT Council as being on target for reaching or exceeding the ACT’s College Readiness Benchmarks. The students were identified based on their performance on the ACT Plan (or Pre-ACT), an exam given to sophomores to help better prepare them for the ACT. The exam measures students in four academic areas including English, mathematics, reading and science.

According to ACT, “Students meeting all the ACT College Readiness Benchmarks by high school graduation are more likely to have a successful college freshman experience.” Students are encouraged to take the ACT their junior year to give them opportunity to increase their score and obtain college scholarships.

Each student was presented with a certificate in honor of his or her achievement.
