Students & Schools

Welcome! Your success—today and in the future—is our purpose. We recognize that you are an individual with unique talents and specific needs, and it is our intent to assist you in becoming a life-long learner.

In elementary school, you can develop strong fundamental skills in reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. You have the opportunity to participate in formal art, music, and physical education classes. You have up-to-date technology and media center resources available in classrooms and in centers.

In junior high school the rigor increases. We will guide you in becoming a more independent learner, and help you to develop confidence in your potential to do great things. You can select activities that interest you. You might want to play sports, sing in the choir, learn how to play an instrument in the band or orchestra, or earn positions on the Quiz Bowl, Knowledge Master Open, or BEST Robotics Teams. You are introduced to the Chamber of Commerce sponsored Arkansas Scholars Program in the eighth grade.

High school credit begins in the ninth grade. The District offers 17 Advanced Placement (AP) courses at each high school, and a number of pre-AP classes in the junior high schools. Your required core courses at all levels meet Arkansas Standards and are designed to prepare you for the future. The District’s Course Catalog lists graduation requirements and classes offered for high school students.

In Grades 7 and 8, educators assist you in formulating a plan that will lead you through high school and into higher education or the workplace. In high school, the emphasis becomes using your plan to make the most of your high school experience.

What is your responsibility? Attend classes regularly. Be prompt. Ask questions. Be prepared to learn a lot about many things. Be respectful of your classmates and your teachers, and help others be successful too.

From this page you and your parents can find information about individual schools, the district’s instruction & curriculum practices, student services, activities & athletics, special education and nutrition services.
