It’s a very exciting time here at Woods! We have a security feature that will provide controlled access to the building during the school day. Various crews from the district have been working to install a new camera, intercom system, computer, and locking mechanism at the front entrance, as well as a system to scan the Driver’s License or state photo ID to search databases. If you do not have a photo ID, you will be required to give your name and birthdate. With this new system in place, we are all going to have to make a few adjustments, but we are certain this is going to be a great benefit to all in the end.
The front doors will remain open, as usual during the normal drop-off and pick-up times. The biggest difference you will notice will occur between 8:15 and 2:45. If you arrive after 8:15, you will need to press the intercom button and wait for someone from the office to answer. The person will ask you to state your name and the reason you need to enter the building. While this person is talking with you, they will be able to see you on a computer monitor at the same time. The person will then push a button to release the lock on the door and you may then enter the building.
Once inside the building you will need to come to the office and sign in using the new Raptor system. This system will scan your driver’s license (upon your first visit only) and search local and national databases. This will also print a sticker for you to wear with specific information about the reason, location and time of your visit. You will log out using the same system. Beyond your first visit, you will not be required to bring your driver’s license with you, as you will already be entered into the system.
Schools begins at 8:00 and the tardy bell rings at 8:05, it is very important your child arrive to school by this time. If your child arrives past that time, you will need to accompany your student to the office.
We ask that you are patient with us as we implement this new procedure. Be mindful, this is for the safety of our most valuable possession, the children!
