PTA Meeting Minutes

March, 2015 Meeting Minutes
PTA March 12, 2015

The Woods Elementary PTA meeting was held Thursday, February
12th at 2:00 in the Room 202.  President Darcy Wollscheid called the meeting to order and Morgan York led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Davina Roper presented the February minutes and they were approved as printed.
Katie Smith discussed the Treasurer report.

Spirit Nights: Skate night was cancelled last month due to school being cancelled.  We made $98.84 from Chuck E. Cheese night.  Goody’s spirit night is tonight.

Earth Day:  April 22nd
We discussed possible ideas for the week such as:  planting a tree on the school grounds, poster contest, have students sign pledges, wear green or Earth day shirts, have a no
trash in your lunchbox day.

Nacho Night:  March 17th
We passed a sign-up sheet around to volunteer that night.  Contact Elizabeth Thames if you wish to help.

Fundraiser: We raised $8,360 from the candy bar sales.  Student Council is giving PTA
$1,000 they collected from the money drive to go toward the playground equipment.  We discussed giving Student Council a cookie cake at their next meeting to show them our appreciation.

Also, Mrs. Beck and Mrs. Solley have said they will help paint the map on the
playground and we can get parents to help as well.

Games – Darcy suggested we add a Star Wars game, maybe throwing rings on light sabers.
Volunteers – We currently have Southside NHS, Charmers, Chaffin Cheer to help.  We discussed asking other organizations to help, such as fraternities/sororities, Chaffin NHS.
Inflatables – They have been reserved. Concessions – Elizabeth Thames will call Chick Fila about doing chicken sandwiches.  We will sell pizza, chicken sandwiches, and
nachos.  Elizabeth will also talk to The Great American Cookie Co. about working with us.
Raffle – We have some donations for raffle, but we discussed needing a bigger ticket item
such as a TV.
Sponsorships – We still need to get sponsors.  We discussed having students writing thank you notes after carnival to sponsors.
Field Day – May 22nd.  We will have 3 wet inflatables, 1 dry, the playground, 2 snack stations, and the Jambulance.  Arvest will grill hot dogs.
Homeroom Coordinator – Quyen will ask for parents to volunteer for Carnival and Field day.

Playground:  We’re still waiting on the school district to deliver and put it together.  The weather has been the reason for the delay.

New Business:
The first week in May is Teacher Appreciation

The meeting adjourned at 2:50pm.
