PTA Meeting Minutes

October, 2015 Meeting Minutes

The Woods Elementary PTA meeting was held Thursday, October 8 at 2:00 in the cafeteria.  President Corrine Adams called the meeting to order and Penney Davis led the Pledge of Allegiance. Kelly Jacimore presented September minutes and they were approved as printed. Quyen Scott went over the budget.  Quyen shared that we will wait closer to the end of the year to decide what we will pay towards the playground.

Membership:  November is the pie throwing incentive award month.

Patriot of the Month: Jennifer Atchley is emailing teachers for their students and will hand out their t-shirts at Wake of Woods. Patriot of the Month for the month of November will be on the 24 due to the holiday break.

Fall Fundraiser:  Cookie dough total sales were $34,000 and we profited $14,000.  Cookie dough will be distributed Wednesday, October 14 from 1:30-6:00 in the cafeteria. We need volunteers for cookie dough pick up.

Hospitality:  PTA will provide a dinner for staff during conference week on Thursday, October 22 from 3:30-6:00. Food will be catered by Arts BBQ.

Trunk or Treat: Fliers will be sent home to change the date from October 23 to October 30 due to a school district conflict. Penney Davis shared that Armstrong Bank will dress up and pass out water bottles and chips during the event.

Spirit Night:  Katie Smith discussed: Chick Fil A hosted October 6, Goody’s will host the second Wednesday of the month, the next Goody’s night will be October 14 from 3:00-7:00, and Flame will host a Spirit Night on November 6 from 6:30-9:00 pm and in January at a cost of $10 per child ages 3 years and up.

Tailgate Party:  This year’s tailgate was a success. For next year’s tailgate party, Darcy Wollschied mentioned increasing the budget.

Spirit Week:  Mrs. Schwartz explained that the library will plan spirit week due to a district decision.  PTA will not have an involvement with brainstorming theme ideas for the week.  Mrs. Rinke will create daily themes for the students to wear.

Reflections:  Corrine Adams encouraged having teachers add Reflections to their lesson plans. Corrine will talk with Mrs. Beck to possibly have a Reflections Night “Let Your Imagination Fly” to showcase students’ individual artwork, writings and photography.

Yearbook: Darcy Wollschied reminded parents and friends to take lots of pictures at parties and events to ensure coverage of our student body. Upload pictures at replayit.com. A 6th grade dedication ad page needs to be sent out soon.
