PTA Meeting Minutes

October, 2013 Meeting Minutes

PTA October 10, 2013

The Woods Elementary PTA meeting was held Thursday, October 10th at 2:00 in a classroom since kindergarten circus was being performed in the cafeteria.  President Elizabeth Thames called the meeting to order and Vice President Darcy Wollscheid led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Davina Roper presented the September minutes and they were approved as printed.  Stacy Stites went over the budget.  She stated that we raised $15,000 from the cookie dough sales and sold 3,200 tubs of cookie dough.

Membership:  Current membership has increased to 234.  Chick-fil-a coupons will be handed out soon to people who have joined.

Skate Night:  We made $120.00 last Thursday evening.

Patriot of the Month:  It will now be given on the third Thursday of the month.

Box Tops:  If parents/children could trim box tops before handing them in, it would be very helpful.  Box Top Marketplace online is also another way to help get our school money.

Fall Fundraiser:  Cookie dough will here on Monday and can be picked up between 11:00 to 6:00.

Homeroom moms:  Make sure to get all handouts approved by Mrs. Isaacs before handing it out.

Spirit Nights:  We made $22.60 from the Goody’s Spirit night last month.

T-Shirts:  There are a few shirts left.  Contact Stacy Schmidt to see what sizes are left.  We made $500 from t-shirt sales.

Tailgate Party:  Tailgate Party was great and Morgan York did a fantastic job!

Yearbook:  You can take pictures at Woods events and upload them to Replayit.com.

Artsonia:   If anyone can help on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays, please contact Steph Gipson. This is a great, new project that could use some more volunteers.

Newsletter/Facebook:  Catherine Frederick will be working on tying Facebook and the Woods website together to help convey information to parents.

Movie Night:  We are still trying to decide on a movie all the kids will enjoy.

New Business

Trunk or Treat:  The flyer is ready to go out in next Tuesday’s folder.  It will be on October 25th from 6-7:30.

PTA Shirts:  If you want to order an orange PTA shirt to wear at events, the deadline is next Thursday, October 17th.

Celebration Team:  We currently don’t have a Celebration Team.  This group of kids consists of 6th grade volunteers who do cheers/chants during Rise and Shine.  They recognize a class or individual for an achievement or accomplishment.  If we want this to continue, we need someone to volunteer.

Volunteer Hours:  Make sure to keep track and turn in all volunteer hours.  You can email them to Janelle Farris at danner@att.net.

Spirit Week:  October 28- November 1.

Monday-Inside out/backwards day

Tuesday-Pajama/comfy clothes day

Wednesday-Crazy Hair/Sock day

Thursday-Orange/Black day

Friday-Favorite team shirt/uniform day

Because of increased enrollment, we now have a new Assistant Principal.  Her name is Tammy Chase.    She will divide her time between Woods and Cook Elementary.  Please welcome Mrs. Chase!
