PTA January 16, 2014

The Woods Elementary PTA meeting was held Thursday, January 16th at 2:00 in the cafeteria.  President Elizabeth Thames called the meeting to order and Vice President Darcy Wollscheid led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Davina Roper presented October and November minutes and they were approved as printed.   Stacy Stites went over the budget.  Money was given to Darcy to hand out to Homeroom moms for the Valentine parties.

Box Tops:  $1,549.00 was given to teachers this week.

Homeroom moms: Money is currently being given to homeroom moms for the Valentine’s parties.  5th grade will have separate parties.

Founder’s Day:  It will be February 20th at 6:30.  The purpose of Founder’s Day was discussed.  There will also be a General meeting that night.  We chose volunteers to help choose lifetime members and brainstorm about that night.  Email Darcy Wollscheid if you have ideas.

Yearbook:  Please continue to take pictures at Woods events and upload them to Replayit.com.   You can also text and email pictures to Meredith Simpson.  The deadline to order has passed.

Nacho Night and Book Fair:  It will be March 18th and will coincide with parent/teacher conferences.  Quyen Scott and Morgan York will be the chairpersons.   Looking forward to it since last year it was a success!

New Business:  Woods was awarded $43,977.74 for scoring in the top 10% of schools in Arkansas.  This money will be used for new technology for our school.   The topic of a possible 2nd fundraiser (selling candy bars) was introduced to purchase 3 additional sets of computers, mice and headsets for classrooms that need them.  The suggestion of talking to Woods Partners was brought up as well.
