PTA Meeting Minutes

April, 2014 Meeting Minutes

PTA April 10, 2014

The Woods Elementary PTA meeting was held Thursday, April 10 at 2:05 in the cafeteria.  President Elizabeth Thames called the meeting to order and Darcy Wollscheid led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Davina Roper presented the March minutes and they were approved as printed.   Stacy Stites went over the budget.

Committees:

Skate Night:  In March we made $132.00 and in April we made $47.00

Patriot of the Month:  Due to testing it will be on April 24th

Spirit Nights:  April 24th will be at Goody’s and Skate night will be May 1st

Box Tops:  A check for $646.00 is expected soon

Homeroom Moms:  Homeroom moms will be getting volunteers from each class to help with carnival

Earth Day:  The t-shirt designs will be judged on Monday, April 13th.  We will order 50 to sell and take orders for more t-shirts if needed.  Hopefully, the T-shirts can be worn on Earth day.  During the week of the 21st we will collect ink cartridges, old cell phones, and small electronics.  The class that collects the most items will receive an ice cream party.

Carnival:    This year it will be from 6-8pm.  It will be primarily outside, in the cafeteria, and in the tornado shelter.  We will have a raffle item sold for $1.   We need sponsors for carnival.  Ms. Isaacs will contact Chaffin and ask them if we can use the parking lot for games on the north side of the building.  We need as many parents to volunteer as possible.  We will also have students from Chaffin and Southside helping.

Field Day:  Everything is already reserved and Arvest will be serving hot dogs.

New Business:  We went over the results of the PTA spring survey.  We brainstormed ways to inform parents about PTA and increase membership.

Volunteer Hours: As always, make sure to keep track and turn in all volunteer hours.  You can email them to Janelle Farris at danner@att.net.
