District Policies

Guiding Principles

Fort Smith Public Schools operates according to policies established by the Board of Education. The Board, representing the local community, formulates these policies through careful consideration. Once adopted, the school administration implements them through specific regulations and procedures.

These policies guide district staff, students, and parents, influencing the overall tone and operation of the district. They also orient new Board members and local citizens to the district’s procedures and expectations.

Personnel Policy Committees

Building a Better Workplace Through Policy Excellence

Fort Smith Public Schools' Personnel Policies Committees are committed to refining and advancing district policies for all employees. There are separate committees for certified and classified staff, each serving as a vital advocate for their respective groups. Our main goals are to review current policies, suggest necessary revisions, and develop new policies for the school board’s consideration. Through these initiatives, we aim to foster a positive, equitable working environment that supports both academic success and professional development.
