Mr. Mahan's Goals for 2025-26 School Year
1: Create a district culture in which grade-level instruction (Right Standard, Right Rigor, Right Time) is a consistent expectation by June 2027.
1.1 At least 90% of observed lessons will demonstrate clear alignment to grade-level standards, as measured by a district-approved instructional observation tool.
1.2 At least 70% of observed lessons will include tasks and questions aligned to the expected level of rigor of the standard.
1.3 100% of schools will implement district pacing guides, with at least 90% adherence as measured by curriculum audits and walkthrough data.
1.4 At least 85% of students will regularly engage in grade-level assignments, as measured by quarterly student work samples and assignment audits.
1.5 Increase the percentage of students performing at or above grade level on state assessments, and increase district graduation rate to 90%.
2: Create a Fort Smith Public Schools Activities and Athletics Foundation by June 2027.
2.1 Establish foundation as a registered nonprofit.
- Create a One Year Charter Board of Directors (11–15 members)
- Adopt approved constitution and bylaws
2.2 Conduct at least two formal board meetings.
- Establish officer roles
- Provide Foundation Board training
2.3 Launch membership program (individual and corporate tiers)
- Recruit at least 20 individual members and 5-10 corporate/community sponsors
- Develop a decal or yard sign for members
2.4 Develop and approve:
- 1-year (short-range) plan (fundraising events, priorities)
- 3–10 year (long-range) plan (growth targets, endowment considerations)
