FSPS, Chamber, and UAFS Host Industry Days at Peak

Fort Smith Public Schools is pleased to partner with the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce and the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith to host Industry Days February 2 and 3 at the Peak Innovation Center, 5900 Painter Lane, Fort Smith, AR. 

The free event featured the district’s Career and Technical Education Program, as well as the outstanding students who are working on earning industry credentials. 

“We are excited to partner with the chamber to host this event,” FSPS Superintendent Martin Mahan said. “FSPS offers robust CTE opportunities for students, and we are excited to invite businesses to our Peak center to see firsthand the rigorous, hands-on educational experience our students have on their pathway to achieve industry credentials while in high school.”

“The chamber launched the first Signing Day in 2019 with a clear goal in mind—to connect high school graduates with the outstanding career opportunities available right here in the Fort Smith region,” Tim Allen, the chamber’s president and CEO, said. “Students represent our future workforce, and it is critical that they understand the quality companies, industries, and career paths that exist beyond high school. Signing Day was created to intentionally bring employers and students together, strengthening our talent pipeline and reinforcing our commitment to long-term workforce development in our region. We are excited to see this tradition continue through the Fort Smith Public Schools River Valley Career Launch.”

Industry Days is the first of the River Valley Career Launch three-part event similar to previous Draft Day events that promote the district’s CTE program and students. FSPS students who attend Peak visited with business representatives both days.

Businesses also are encouraged to sign up for the River Valley Career Launch event March 10 and the Launch to Success event scheduled for May 4. The Career Launch event will include a career expo and hiring event, and the Launch to Success event will highlight students who are hired by regional employers. All events are free to employers.
