Woods Elementary teachers win Bessie B. Moore Award!
Congratulations to Woods Elementary third-grade teachers Karen Mills, Allie Scantling, Julie Stec, and Lilibeth Pineda for earning the prestigious Bessie B. Moore Award! Their project, “Turning Lemons into a Lemonade War,” gave 100 students a hands-on lesson in economics as they sold lemonade to more than 500 classmates—raising $1,100 in the process. All profits were donated to the River Valley Food Bank in memory of their beloved art teacher, Mrs. Stacy Bates.
