Storm/Tornado Shelters are available at all FSPS schools and are open to the public only when a tornado warning is issued or tornado sirens sound. Shelter doors automatically unlock when the sirens are activated, and storm shelter managers will be present to assist when the shelters are in use.

During School Hours: Students and staff have priority access to shelters. Members of the public may be admitted after all students and staff have been safely sheltered. Shelters will remain open only until the tornado warning is lifted. Once the warning expires, all occupants must exit the shelter.

Shelter Rules

  • Shelter doors must remain closed at all times.
  • Pets: Only pets in owner-provided, airline-approved carriers are allowed.
  • Radios or music devices: Devices may be used only with individual earphones.
  • Food and Drink: No food or beverages are allowed inside the shelter.
  • Smoking and Tobacco: Smoking or the use of tobacco in any form is strictly prohibited in the shelters and on all school property, in accordance with Arkansas law.
