Our dedicated team, led by Michael Beaumont and Jennifer Steele, is passionate about creating a nurturing and challenging environment where students can excel both on and off the field. We believe in the power of athletics and extracurricular activities to shape character, build teamwork, and foster a sense of community. Our staff is committed to providing exceptional programs and opportunities that encourage personal growth, leadership, and academic achievement. Leadership Spotlight
Michael Beaumont
Michael Beaumont leads the Athletics & Activities departments for FSPS. Since 2019, he has served in an administrative capacity as the department director, but many on campus know him as a mentor and refer to him simply as “Coach Beaumont.”
Coach Beaumont brings over 20 years of athletic experience to the district, including 15 years at the collegiate level. Coach Beaumont loves that his job allows him to make a difference in our schools, our community, and the lives of young people.
Prior to joining the Fort Smith Public Schools, Michael served in many elite athletic programs. Most recently, he was the Director of Operations at the University of Tennessee Women’s Basketball Team under coach emeritus Pat Summit and now former head coach Holly Warwick. While at Tennessee, Beaumont saw his program to 7 straight invites to the NCAA tournament, 2 SEC Championships,1 SEC Tournament Championship, 3 Elite Eights, and 1 Sweet Sixteen. While serving as the Assistant Athletics Director and Director of Football Operations at Ole Miss, Beaumont had the opportunity to work with NFL greats Mike Wallace, Dexter McCluster, and Michael Oher. In 2006, Beaumont joined the staff at the University of Arkansas led by Coach Houston Nutt. He served as the football team’s academic counselor and assistant to the Director of Operations. During his time at the University of Arkansas, the Razorbacks won an SEC West Championship and played in back-to-back bowl games in 2006 and 2007. At the University of Arkansas, he worked with Razorback greats turned NFL stars Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis. Coach Beaumont worked as an athletic director, coach, and teacher for Lincoln Public Schools in Lincoln, Arkansas, and as the Video Coordinator for the University of Central Arkansas.
Coach Beaumont holds a B.S.E in Health Education from the University of Central Arkansas and a B.S. In Kinesiology & Exercise Science from Arkansas State.
Jennifer Steele
Jennifer Steele joined FSPS in 1995 and has served as the Assistant Director of Athletics & Activities for the FSPS since 2021. Ms. Steele believes she has “the best job ever!" and loves providing support to parents, teachers, and administrators who work with our students. Ms. Steele believes in positively impacting young people and helping all students succeed.
In her time at Fort Smith Public Schools, Jennifer served as the Assistant Principal of Northside High School (2013-2021) and the Director of Bands at Chaffin Junior High (1995-2013). Prior to joining FSPS, she worked as the Director of Bands at Mansfield, AR (1989-1995).
Jennifer holds a B.M.E. in Music Education from Georgia Southern University, an M.E.A. in Educational Administration from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University. She is a Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA) through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).
