Kaelyn Hawkins joined the FSPS Communications Team as the Office Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Communications and Engagement in April of 2025. She works closely with the department to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. 

In her role, Kaelyn collaborates with the FSPS Foundation and Partners in Education to help coordinate events, maintain communication with stakeholders, and support a variety of district-wide initiatives. She also assists with planning employee recognition celebrations and brings a spirit of organization, reliability, and teamwork to every task she undertakes.

Prior to stepping into her current role, Kaelyn worked as a substitute teacher for Fort Smith Public Schools. Kaelyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Arkansas, where she graduated in the spring of 2024. During her time there, she studied a range of communications-focused subjects including advertising principles, public relations writing, marketing, creative strategy, and journalism ethics. 

A proud Fort Smith native and 2020 graduate of Southside High School, Kaelyn is passionate about serving the community she calls home and helping tell the stories that make Fort Smith Public Schools special.

Tyler Armstrong joined Fort Smith Public Schools as the Director of Community Engagement in June 2025. In this role, he works to strengthen relationships between FSPS and its families, staff, students, alumni, and community partners through strategic outreach, marketing, and communications initiatives. He leads efforts to grow the Partners in Education program, expand donor support for the FSPS Foundation, and coordinate district wide engagement campaigns.

Tyler brings a strong background in nonprofit leadership, marketing, and communications. Before joining FSPS, he served as the Pro Bono Coordinator for the Center for Arkansas Legal Services, where he connected hundreds of Arkansans with free or low-cost legal help by developing partnerships with law firms, community organizations, and local leaders. He also serves as Volunteer Coordinator for the Fort Smith International Film Festival, managing more than 30 volunteers during the multi-day event.

Originally from outside the River Valley, Tyler has made Fort Smith his home and is passionate about building connections that support students and schools. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Outside of work, he enjoys the arts, live music, cooking, and community events with his family of five.
