Occupational Outlook Handbook is a website which allows a person to discover earnings, growth, and activities related to over 100 different types of jobs.
4 units of English 3 units of Math (Class of 2008) or 4 units of Math (Class of 2009 and beyond) 3 units of Social Studies 1 and 1/2 units of Physical Education (one unit can be JROTC or Marching Band with 1/2 PE required) 1/2 unit of Health 1/2 unit of Oral Communication 1/2 unit of Fine Arts (Band, Choir, Orchestra, Music Theory, Drama, Art, or Survey of Fine Arts) Only 2 units of PE can count toward graduation, with the maximum of one unit per year. *Beginning with the class of 2009, all graduate in Arkansas public schools will be required to have 4 units of mathematics. Therefore, graduates of Fort Smith Public Schools will be required to obtain a minimum of 23 units. Honors Diploma - A student must meet requirements for graduation, maintain a 3.0 grade average, and pass eight units of Pre-AP or AP courses, six of which must be earned in grades 10, 11, 12.
Arkansas Scholars Curriculum
An Arkansas Scholar is a student in grades 9-12 who is committed to achieving and maintaining the following criteria: at least 95% attendance annually completion of Smart Core Curriculum earn no grade lower than a "C" completion of high school in eight consecutive semesters. Scholars are recognized by the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce and local employers through a system of awards and incentives, culminating with a luncheon for 12th graders who have maintained Scholar status and with placement of a special seal on the Scholar's transcript. Employers who recognize the seal have agreed to give priority in hiring to Arkansas Scholars. Scholars may be eligible for a scholarship at UAFS. Courses may be re-taken to qualify.

Smart Core Curriculum Requirements
- 4 units of English
- 4 units of Math including Algebra I and II, Geometry, and an advanced math course above Algebra II
- 3 units of Science with laboratories, chosen from Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
- 3 units of Social Studies including one of US History, one of World History, and at least 1/2 unit of Civics or American Government
If parents choose to have their child participate in a less rigorous curriculum for graduation, they must contact their child's counselor.
