FSPS Facts on ESSER Funds
Fort Smith Public Schools students, families and employees benefit from supplemental funding provided by the CARES Act or the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER).
Cares Act Funding is used to address loss of learning that has resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic. A team of District educators has worked to identify and target resources that provide the most effective and efficient support under the circumstances. These funds have been used to provide technology resources, such as computers, and Internet access, services and goods, such as personal protective equipment, to further ensure a safe learning environment on each school campus, and to support the physical, mental, and emotional health of our staff and students. FSPS is also using ESSER funding to support the addition of nurses and school resource officers for increased health and safety coverage throughout district schools.
